FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jul 01, 2009 -
The Australian Business Analysis Association (ABAA) and the Australian Chapter of the International Institute for Business Analysis (IIBA®) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreeing to work closely together to promote professional recognition of business analysis within Australia.

The combination of these two organisations provides benefits for the business analysis community by blending the knowledge approach of the IIBA® with the competency approach of the ABAA.

“We are two independent not-for-profit organisations, but there is only one Business Analysis community. We both aim to serve the growing field of Business Analysis, advance Business Analysis as a recognised profession in Australia and assist Business Analysts do a better job. Co-operating just makes good sense.” — John Katsiris, Chair, IIBA®

“The International Institute for Business Analysis (IIBA®) assisted us in the development of the Australian Business Analysis Competency Framework (ABACF) I feel that this is the beginnings of a great partnership between the two leading not-for-profit business analysis organisations in Australia” — Astrid Ries, President, ABAA

The IIBA® and ABAA are “not-for-profit” organisations. This means that both organisations:
• are “break even” with all fees and outcomes from commercial ventures being reinvested back
into the organisations to provide core benefits to members and the Business Analysis
community;
• channel reinvestment into initiatives which may provide no financial gain but instead provide
long term benefits to the Business Analysis community;
• are independent of commercial favouritism;
• are open and democratic;
• allow all members to vote and nominate to represent the organisations;
• make their financial records available to members for transparency.
In the absence of a profit motive, the organisations exist to;
• benefit business analysts and those who perform business analysis activities in their work;
• promote and raise the profile of the Business Analysis profession;
• provide opportunities for Business Analysts to network and learn;
• develop and provide access to useful knowledge, references, competency frameworks and
other tools that are of value to Business Analysts.
