Weak pound boosts sales of tourist t-shirts, increasing orders for Oxford T-shirt printing company

"We're seeing a healthy increase in orders for the T-shirt designs specifically sold by the Oxford and London shops that cater for tourists," commented Arron Harnden, MD of Shirtworks. "June and July are always busy months for us, what with summer camps and sports clubs holding special events, and also because of the tourist industry. But this year, it's the latter that seems to be faring the best, both for the Oxford University and London Underground designs."

Whilst the weaker pound has caused severe problems for other industries, the economic situation regarding the pound is actually benefiting the tourist industry. "I suppose the tourists are looking at the t-shirts and thinking that they're such bargains because of the exchange rate, they'll buy a couple more for friends back home," Arron suggested. "We know that the London t-shirts are popular with the American and Japanese tourists, so if the pound is stretching further, it's no surprise that T-shirt sales are up."
