On July 4, patriots will meet from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Warner Center Park in Woodland Hills to celebrate America's founding principles and to protest tax-and-spend policies from Cap and Trade to National Healthcare.
"Cap and Trade is a fine on a fiction," says Karen Kenney, coordinator for the San Fernando Valley Patriots group. "Benjamin Franklin said the two great vices were to keep 'a running debt' and 'lying.' In fact, he said, "Lying rides on the back of debt.' I think politicans do both and forget this country drew its first breath with 'We the people...'"
"America Lives!" will start with a sidewalk rally at 5800 Topanga Canyon Blvd. at the corner of Mary Lee St. Free U.S. flags, pocket copies of the U.S. Constitution and handbills-- designed circa 1776--will be distributed to help educate the public about the Founding Fathers, government websites and Free-market economics.
The "Valley Villagers" folk ensemble will sing Americana songs during a silent protest. During the concert, attendees may write "Dear Patriot" postcards to deployed armed services personnel to be included in packages sent by Operation Gratitude.
