Cohen, an Israeli native, opened the shop together this past April in Scottsdale after training exclusively in Barcelona, Spain under the tutelage of master gelato makers. After months of intensive preparation, Cohen brought his passion for the sweet treat to the States, determined to be the reigning gelato King of the East Valley. But for those of you who don’t know….
What is Gelato?
According to Wikepedia, Gelato “is the Italian regional variant of ice cream. As such, gelato is made with some of the same ingredients as most ice-creams around the world; milk (and cream), sugar (and other sweeteners), flavorings (fruits, nuts, essences, etc.) and air are the main ingredients”
So, if you’re looking for authentic Italian gelato, you’ve found the spot: according to Cohen, “The Gelato Maker offers a genuine taste of Italy…one taste of our premium gelato and you’ll see that this is truly an authentic Italian-style gelato”. Cohen also added that if you head over between 2pm-5pm on Tuesdays, you can hit their “happy hour” and get ½ off on your order – the perfect way to indulge your sweet-tooth and sample from an assortment of exotic flavors. With Cream Gelato flavors such as Mascarpone, Crema Catalana, Spicy Chocolate, Biscotti and Cassata, and juicy Sorbet flavors including Figs, Avocado, Sangria, Mojito and Pomegranate, it’s no wonder this gelato store has created such a sensation among the throngs of the dessert-savvy, hardcore foodies, and well, just about anyone else who loves this decadent treat!
