Ashworth Creative Educates College Admissions Professionals about New Media Sources
Ashworth Creative, an ad agency out of Rhinebeck, NY led a workshop on June 4th, 2009 on, “How to Use Social Media as a Strategic Recruitment Tool” at the New York State Association for College Admission (NYSACAC) annual conference held at St. John’s University in Queens, NY. NYSACAC creates leadership and professional development opportunities in college admission counseling.
The workshop concentrated on first, understanding your own unique brand DNA, second, identifying your multiple communities of interest, and third, creating communication with these different communities of interest, using your unique message. Communication should take a hybird approach by combining traditional media, such as viewbooks and postcards, and combine that with new social media like facebook, youtube, text messaging and an admission’s micro website to reach generation Y and their parents.
Eve Ashworth said, “The medium to reach prospective students is often well guarded. By creating conversations between current and prospective students through the use of social media, admission applications stay consistent, if not increase. Ashworth Creative is pleased to have been given this opportunity to educate Admission directors and their staff on how to adopt a hybrid marketing approach.”
