Ancient Prophecy - Sacred Fire Returns to Greenland – July 17-19

June 30, 2009 - PRLog -- Kangerlussuaq, Greenland – On July 17 2009, people from around the world will be gathering for three days at the Top of the World to fulfill an ancient prophecy. The Ancient Ones say that One Day, when the World needs it most, the Sacred Fire will come Home to the People on the Top of the World. This is the prophecy handed down over thousands of generations in Kalaallit Nunnat. Now the climate is changing and the trees are standing again. The time has come for the Sacred Fires to be kindled with wood from Mother Earth.
“We invite the Elders of Greenland and their indigenous communities to join us in this powerful three-day cross-cultural gathering,” stated Angaangaq, Kalaallit Elder and founder of Sirmiq Aattuq, an organization committed to preserving Mother Earth. “This gathering will unite people from around the world and give Elders a unique opportunity to share their teachings and address the spiritual significance of the Melting of the Big Ice,” added Angaangaq.
The indigenous people of Greenland are asked to provide for their own food and lodging during the gathering. Local and international participants will be sleeping in tents at the Ceremonial site.  “The cost for all international participants has been immense. Many could not come because of the expense. They are holding Sacred Fires in their home countries. We ask that Greenlandic participants contribute by bringing an appropriate donation. This can be in the form of food, pelts, artwork, cash, or item of your choice” said Oona Leibundgut, Sacred Fire Ceremony Coordinator.  In addition, everyone will be asked to help with daily activities.
The three day ceremony will take place 15 kilometers east from the town of Kangerlussuaq on the west coast of Greenland. The ceremony symbolizes the spiritual significance of climate change, expressing the unity of the Sacred Fire coming home with the melting of the Big Ice.
“This event is of great significance and we are pleased that Tuusi Motzfelt, Chairman of the Parliament of Greenland sends his best wishes to the gathering,” shared Angaangaq.
Ashes are being sent to Greenland from fires that have been burning for up to 10 000 years, fires from the Americas, fires from Buddhist Temples, Celtic fires, fires from the heart of Africa to be used as the foundation for the Sacred Fire at the Top of the World. These ashes contain the prayers of our ancestors, the prayers of the Four Directions, our prayers, the prayers of humankind.

During the three days of ceremony, Sacred Fires from around the world are being sparked connecting to each other and to the Sacred Fire at the Top of the World, just as our ancestors did. In this way a global circle of Fire is created: The Circle which has no Beginning nor Ending, in which we All belong. We encourage people from Greenland to also hold Sacred Fires wherever they are.
