Follow on Google News | Camp Kippewa Stables Belonged to Woolworth FamilyCamp Kippewa Stables, home to top-notch summer equestrian specialty program, is part of the former Woolworth Family estate and racehorse training farm.
By: Camp Group, LLC “This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy non-competitive, top-notch English riding instruction with an emphasis on safety, fun and skill development following the standards of the U.S. Pony Club and British Horse Society.” Says Ginger Clare, Camp Director. The program welcomes first-time riders, beginners and advanced riders with individual attention tailored to your level. With dressage as the foundation of the program, girls start with equitation, a balance seat, and progress through hunter/jumper disciplines. Girls work at their own pace in a fun and relaxed atmosphere with highly qualified, dedicated riding instructors led by Jim Saindon, an experienced rider who has both taught and competed for many years. Jim’s accomplishments include winning numerous Class A medals in competitions through the U.S. and Canada. Kippewa Stables, conveniently located right on camp grounds, once belonged to the Woolworth family and was part of their racehorse estate. The picturesque, mahogany-lined barn with 29 box stalls is flanked by two sand rings, one grass ring, a ½ mile trot track and open pastures. - In each of Camp Kippewa’s two, four week sessions, girls, ages 7 to 15, experience a summer jam-packed with activities, friendships and fun. Creating their own weekly schedule offers a customized camping experience like no other. Besides riding, girls enjoy fine arts & crafts, dance & theater, water sports and land sports, as well as, camp-wide evening activities, special events, trip days, optional sailing, hiking and wilderness trips. Camp Kippewa’s 75-acre campus in Monmouth, Maine sits on the natural shoreline of the eleven-mile long, three-mile wide Lake Cobbosseecontee. In addition to the extensive riding facilities, the picturesque, tree lined grounds include a natural beach, boat and swim docks, intimate lake view cabins with screened-in porches, 6 tennis courts (4 lit for night play), softball and soccer fields, basketball court, archery range, climbing wall and ropes course, 12 art studios spread over 3 buildings, Playhouse theater, dance studio and gymnastics center. There is still limited availability for the second summer session beginning July 22, 2009.
