Magic Waves Festival
The Magic Waves Festival, presenting a host of Italo and underground electronic musicians and DJs from around the globe, has announced the addition of Legowelt, The Hague's electronic music savant, to the festival line-up on Friday, July 10th.
A free warm-up party to kick off the festival has also been announced for Thursday, July 9th. Magic Waves has teamed up with up-and-coming night Pearl Flash to get the party started right. David Vunk, one of London's best-loved Italo DJs, is coming straight out of Rotterdam to dish out as much proper Italo disco as you're man enough to take.
The Magic Waves Festival takes place on Friday, July 10th, and Saturday, July 11th, at Corsica Studios, Elephant & Castle, London. The festival, the first full-on celebration of Italo in the United Kingdom, will be the local debut for a number of legendary Italo acts. Tickets are available in advance for £35 via wegottickets.com, or will be available at the door for £20 each night. In addition to the warm-up party on Thursday, there will be an all-day disco after-party on Sunday, July 12th.
Legowelt, one of the most prolific men in the electro world, has released music under many names: Nacho Patrol, Chicago Shags, Smackos, Squadra Blanco, and Twilight Moose, to name but a few. His music draws inspiration from disco, Chicago house, Italian horror movie soundtracks and adorable cat videos on YouTube. Legendary for over a decade, Legowelt's live shows combine awesome technical skill with genre-bending musical chutzpah.
On Thursday night, warm-up party headliner David Vunk, the mastermind behind Moustache Records and a regular on Intergalactic FM, will be doing what he does best--slanging Italo jams guaranteed to make you dance your ass off. Vunk will be joined by Casionova, one of the DJs behind Magic Waves, Hampus from Top Nice and the Pearl Flash residents.
The Magic Waves Festival features over 40 acts, including Italo legend Alex Novaga, who is best known for his work with the acts Cellophane, Stopp, Camaro's Gang and Sun La Shan. Casco, who was responsible for some of Italo's greatest hits, Fockewulf 190 and Fred "the voice of Italo" Ventura will also be playing.
Other acts will include: Alden Tyrell, Heartbreak, Mr. Pauli, Oppenheimer Analysis, Mark Du Mosch, Revolving Eyes, Andy Blake, Ali Renault, Den Haan, iamelectron, Rick Hopkins, Jonny 5, Spruxxx, Helium Robots, Peter Mangalore, Tommy Walker 3, Andrew Ingram, eclairfifi, Brian D'Souza, Jonny Wins, Fratelli Di Rimini, Meschi, Chris Flatline, Melanie Houston, Brassica, Serious Lover, Joe Hart, Bill Ambrose, Antoni Maiovvi and English Electric. Electrick Dragon, Andy Romano, Cosmo & Faber, Jeffrey Sfire, Slick Chick, Pippi Langstrumpf and Aratkilo will all be making their UK debuts at the festival.
