Lisa Carr, wife of Hit the Links Group founder Ken Carr, was diagnosed in 2000 with breast cancer. She was treated at Memorial Hospital and today, 9 years later is doing well, although she continues as a patient at the Breast Cancer Center at Memorial Hospital in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
In addition to the care received at Memorial Hospital, Lisa and Ken discovered answers to their questions and a wealth of information at www.Breastcancer.org. In 2002 they created the Hit the Links for Breast Cancer Golf Tournament as a way to give back to the organizations that helped Lisa and countless other women through those difficult times. This information helped guide Lisa and her husband through their journey, helping them to understand Lisa’s situation, treatment options and become empowered to make decisions with Lisa’s medical team. This year we are excited to announce the addition of Memorial Foundation’s Breast Cancer Center Fund as a beneficiary of the event.
Since 2002 the event has grown to include over 50 golfers per event and has raised thousands of dollars for breast cancer education. “We are excited to see how much of a difference we can make and we look forward to another very successful event,” Ken said as he plans for this year’s tournament to be even more successful than previous years with the addition of the Memorial Foundation. Proceeds from the event are going to be split equally between Breastcancer.org (Philadelphia, PA), an organization focused on Breast Cancer education and Memorial Foundation’s Breast Cancer Center Fund (Pembroke Pines and Hollywood, FL), an organization focused on complete treatment of Breast Cancer.
