Recently The CPR School was selected to provide CPR AED and First Aid training for residents of Jupiter Island. In addition to the training the CPR School also inspected and tested the Automated External Defibrillator or AED. It was found that the AED required new electrode pads and these were provided and installed by the staff at The CPR School.
An Automated External Defibrillator or AED is a portable, battery operated electronic device about the size of a laptop computer ranging in price from $1,250 - $1,800. The AED automatically diagnoses the potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a victim and is able to treat the patient by an electrical shock which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm. AEDs are designed to be simple so that anyone can use one.
The CPR School sells and services Automated External Defibrillators – AEDs. We have been placing these in a variety of locations such as condo associations, gyms and health clubs, churches, non profits such as the Boys and Girls Club, restaurants, hotels, car dealerships, numerous Fortune 500 companies, on yachts and a surprising amount in private homes. The sales and service of AEDs – Automated External Defibrillators goes hand in hand with CPR AED training. The AED is an essential link in the CPR chain of survival. Early defibrillation greatly increases the patient’s chances of survival. For this reason, we encourage all of our customers to purchase an AED for their business, school, or home. We also remind our customers that the AED should be inspected on a regular basis to make certain it is working properly. The batteries and electrode pads on these units need to be replaced every few years.
Just as important as owning an AED is CPR and AED training. We offer American Heart Association, ECSI and ASHI group CPR, First Aid and AED training certification classes at your location. The CPR School is a mobile CPR, First Aid and AED Training Company that works with businesses to train their staff how to safely use an AED and perform CPR. We conduct classes throughout Florida including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Coral Springs, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, Daytona, Orlando, Tampa, Fort Myers, Sarasota and the Florida Keys. Don’t see your location listed - because we are a “mobile training center” we can travel to teach almost anywhere.
The AED portion of our training is very important and often the most interesting. An AED or Automated External Defibrillator is a portable electronic device that automatically diagnoses the potentially life threatening cardiac arrhythmias of ventricular fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia in a patient. The AED is able to treat the patient by application of electrical therapy which stops the arrhythmia, allowing the heart to re-establish an effective rhythm. AEDs are designed to be simple so that anyone can use one. Each of our students will have the opportunity to use an AED during the class. We typically bring 2 or 3 different AEDs to class to show students how the various models work. Some of the more commonly used AEDs are Medtronic / Physio Control, Cardiac Science, Philips, Zoll, Defibtech and HeartSine.
Keith Murray, the owner of The CPR School stated “There is a lot more to our classes than press press blow. We talk about liability, which AED to purchase, cost of ownership, maintenance, and help the client with a complete CPR AED program. We talk about liability, duty to act, Good Samaritan laws, personal safety, bloodborne pathogens, and a variety of other topics. We work with Risk and Safety Managers, Human Resource professionals and business owners to implement a comprehensive CPR AED program that works for everyone.”
