Solar Training Institute Offers New PV Design and Installation Training July 7-11

Demand in Los Angeles and Orange County for STI Solar Training Courses Underscores Growing Job Opportunities

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun 26, 2009 -
SAN JOSE, CA – The Solar Training Institute (STI), a leading provider of accelerated solar training programs, today announced a new series of training courses in PV design and installation in Los Angeles and Orange County July 7-11.  This series of workshops will allow skilled and technical workers who want to start, transition or advance their careers become proficient in the fundamentals of commercial and residential photovoltaic grid-tied system design and installation, and will help meet the high demand for an increasing pool of trained and skilled solar installation technicians.

The 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) is driving extraordinary demand for technical and skilled workers. “President Obama has made cleaner, greener energy use a top administration priority. The ARRA includes funding for the installation of solar panels to cut energy use at many federal buildings ... and that means someone with an understanding of electric, water and heating systems will need to climb up on the rooftops and put up these systems”, says Laurence Shatkin, author of "Great Jobs in the President's Stimulus Plan”.

Participants attending the two-day Intro to PV Design and Installation Workshop will become knowledgeable in Photovoltaic and grid-tie systems.  They will learn how to size and design a PV system including the basics of electricity, module configuration, inverters, and racking systems.  The accelerated course will also provide education on permitting, state and federal rebates, maintenance and troubleshooting.

Career changers and attendees new to the solar industry who attend the one-day, Discovering a New Career in Solar Workshop, will come away with a solid understanding of the industry, its economic drivers, career opportunities, commercial and residential PV infrastructure, certification, and entrepreneurial opportunities.   Locations for the two courses are:

Intro to PV Design and Installation:  La Quinta Inn Santa Ana, 2721 Hotel Terrace, Santa Ana, CA
Discovering a New Career in Solar:  La Quinta Inn & Suites LAX, 5249 W. Century Blvd, Los Angeles, CA

For more information and registration visit www.trainingforsolar.com.  The company is offering discounts to attendees who register before July 3, 2009.
