The goal of this release was to address two key objectives which are to make product-based websites more attractive to the dealers, agents and corporate users, and to enhance the revenue generation capabilities of the websites.
To achieve the goal, WFW engineers came up with several new functions users can order for additional cost, such as the ability to add and display YouTube videos, slide shows, or highlight a listing for better visibility among dozens and dozens of competing offers.
Website admin is able to manipulate with prices and availability of those functions for various customer groups, making unique offers and better addressing target audiences.
By adding a WYSIWYG editor for text area fields, the developers made a major step forward towards making listing texts look more attractive, adding a touch of exclusivity to even cheapest of the listings. At the same time, filtered input prevents non-secure or malicious code from being displayed within listing descriptions, introducing an additional layer of security on top of filtered inputs that are already part of the software.
A totally different objective of this release was to introduce long-sought dealer-related enhancements. It is not a secret that much of automotive and real estate website revenue is generated by dealerships and real estate agents/brokers willing to advertise multiple vehicles or properties respectively. There is competition among websites to invite new corporate or small business customers.
To cater for corporate user needs, WFW developers included a whole new level of functionality such as dealer/agent search and profile display, built-in individual SEO-friendly 'All ads by this seller' pages for every dealer with the dealer profile and all listings by this dealer. Those pages can be used as standalone websites for small agents/dealers without corporate websites of their own, a perfect service with a lot of demand for it.
The WFW team spent quite some time on polishing the existing code, streamlining and improving user friendly interfaces, fixing issues reported from the previous releases and enhancing documentation. A modified development process resulted in a drastic reduction of minor defects, and improved testing routines enabled to identify and resolve such defects before final versions of the software are released.
WFW immediate plans are geared towards further expanding product functionality, addressing new market requirements and enhancing customer rapport and feedback by inviting customers to participate in the process of formulating and identifying new avenues for making iAuto, iRealty, and iLister even better than they already are.
