Squid’s Restaurant, Market and Oyster Bar was once again named “Best Seafood Restaurant” in the Triangle by readers of the Independent Weekly. The longtime local favorite beat out other well-known area seafood restaurants for the honor including 42nd Street Oyster Bar, Fins Restaurant, and Kemps Seafood. Squid’
The Independent Weekly’s “Best Of the Triangle” yearly awards are given strictly through the votes of its readers. The voting begins in January and the results are published in June.
Squid’s has been serving customers at their Chapel Hill-based oyster bar since 1989. However, their seafood expertise goes far beyond oysters. The Best Seafood Restaurant award was earned in large part due to their winning combination of ‘fresh from the North Carolina coast’ wood-grilled filets, live Maine lobsters, lightly breaded fried seafood, and exceptional daily specials.
Squid’s has received numerous accolades in the past including being named “Best Overall Restaurant in Chapel Hill” and “Best Casual Dining Restaurant” by The Chapel Hill Newspaper.
