Users can post pictures of products from their computer or mobile phone with a description and the store they found it at. Others get a real-time glimpse at what's new in neighborhood stores, and can comment on or bookmark the posting. Shopseen's reach extends far beyond its own site. Users can publish Shopseen posts and comments to their Facebook or Twitter feeds. Shopseen has also been giving away gift cards to users that post the most popular products and events on Shopseen. There will be more contests coming up for NY and LA.
"We're really excited to bring Shopseen to New York and LA,” says Shopseen’s CEO and founder, Adeel Ahmad. “There so many amazing stores in those cities and we can't wait to see what shoppers are finding.”
The site has been garnering much attention in the press from the LA Times, San Francisco Bay Guardian, Mashable, SFist, and others. An iPhone app is also being tested and should be released this summer. In the wake of economic recession, the site’s launch is timely for stores as well. Independent boutiques, vintage and consignment shops are seeing an increase in popularity. While such stores sometimes lack websites, Shopseen offers a venue to post new products and advertise upcoming events.
