June 24, 2009 - PRLog -- We all know renewable energy is being widely accepted into mainstream power generation, it still is an expensive alternative. If you have thought about installing solar panels at home, you should have noticed that the price for new setups is exorbitant. New solar panels cost up to a few thousand dollars not to mention the installation and optimization costs that is additional. An easier and cheaper alternative is to learn how to make solar panels using DIY kits and cheap components on your own right in your own backyard.

Making a solar panel is not as hard as you may think. A solid manual and the right components are all you need to start harnessing solar power. I have made my own solar panels and it wasn't difficult and I'm not technically inclined nor an engineer.

Getting Started Guide and What You'll need:

   * A DIY book that guides you on how to make solar panels.
   * Plywood sheets
   * Solar-cells (Can be found for a low price online)
   * Glass panes
   * Wires and other basic tools.
   * Safety gloves and goggles.

There are numerous easy to follow guidebooks available online that cost around $45 - $85. You need to remember that cheaper is not always better. Do your research and look for extra material that you may use later on in your other renewable energy projects. Most of these guides will also give you plans to make a wind generator or a water turbine as well because they both go hand in hand when talking about renewable energy systems.

If you're still wondering how to make your own renewable energy system you should know that you need a solid DIY solar power guide to accompany your throughout your project. It is essential if you don't want to go through any trouble or even worse give up.

The guidebook that I used for my project contains information on how to make our own solar panels as well as detailed instructions on how to install them properly on your house. The diagrams and charts helped me as much as the step-by-step instructions. This really sped up the process. Another great resource was the list of places where we can buy inexpensive solar cells.

It takes only two days to make a 200 watt solar panel and requires little skills apart from following simple step-by-step instructions. The total cost I incurred was $180, which is almost 20% of the price of a brand new 200 watt solar panel ($800-$1000).

Learning how to make solar panels at home has a definite advantage considering the financial front. You can even think of starting your own business and selling homemade solar panels for a great profit.

If you're tired of high electricity bills discover how thousands of families worldwide use homemade solar panels to power their homes.
