Daughter-in-law Of Late Gabonese President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba Issues Statement

Inge Bongo, the daughter-in-law of the late Gabonese President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba, wife of his Son, Ali-Ben Bongo Ondimba, released a press statement from her home in Southern California, USA, regarding the death of her father-in-law.

PR Log (Press Release)Jun 23, 2009 – New York City --- As news surfaced worldwide of the passing of Gabonese President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba, Inge Bongo, his American-Born Daughter-in-Law and Wife of his Son, Ali-Ben Bongo Ondimba, is deeply saddened and wishes to express gratitude for the well wishes she continues to receive.
“I would like to Thank Everyone for their Condolences as We Greatly Appreciate the Compassion pouring in from All Over The World. This has been a Devastating Loss for our Family. We have lost our Patriarch and Gabon has lost their Leader.”
Inge Bongo is overwhelmed by the support she has received from the People of America.
U.S. President Barack Obama said in a statement he was saddened at the death of President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba, who:
"consistently emphasized the importance of seeking compromise and striving for peace."
Inge Bongo, Wife of Ali-Ben Bongo Ondimba, is Sincerely Grateful to the Leaders of the World who expressed their support and solidarity with the People of Gabon.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon extended his "sincere condolences to the President's Family, as well as to the Government and People of Gabon."
Ban Ki-moon paid tribute to the late President for the "key role he played in the search for peace and stability not only in the Central Africa sub region, but also in other parts of the continent."
Around 40 Heads of State, and Thousands of Gabonese People, paid their last Respects to President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba ahead of a Military Parade in Honor of the late President.
President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba died of cardiac arrest on Monday in the Spanish clinic where he was undergoing treatment for a serious illness. The 73-year-old President was Well Known for his Influence in Regional and World Affairs, especially in Central Africa.
Gabon hosted a series of International Peace Conferences in the region, leading to a peace deal to end years of conflict in the country.
President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba was Africa's Longest Serving Statesman, presiding over the Former French Colony in West Africa since 1967.
Gabon is currently in 30 Days of Official Mourning.
The Body of President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba was flown Home on June 11th from Barcelona, to lie in state until the funeral.
President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba was buried on June 18 in Franceville, his native Haut-Ogooue region in the southeast of the nation of some 1.5 million people.
