FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PR Log (Press Release) –
Jun 22, 2009 – Nationally acclaimed architecture and interior design firm Telesco Associates completes interior design of The King Is Dead, a transformative 3,500 square-foot, 300 person nightclub which also happens to be the sister venue to Grass, another Telesco Associates project. Set in the eclectic style of its surroundings The King is Dead is a place created for the Design District's exclusive trendsetters that plays a balance of music including house, hip-hop and open format.
The concept of the club is derived from the French chant Le Roi est mort. Vive le Roi! which is a traditional proclamation made following the accession of a new monarch in various countries. The club was designed to give rise to an alternative to the over commercialized nightlife of South Beach. Conceived and designed by Anthony Capano, Cristina Ventura, Mazi Soofi, Todd Litterelle and TJ Lenk, in collaboration with pioneering nightclub design firm Telesco Associates, The King Is Dead uses rich colors and one-of-a-kind design elements created by Telesco team member and photographer Adam Best to create an environment that is both ornate and contemporary. "The King Is Dead is the alter ego of the simplistic and relaxing Grass. It’s a total sensory experience when you transition from dining to partying,” says owner Anthony Capano. Transitioning from the refreshing oasis of Grass to the contrasting opulence of The King is Dead is a contrast that you have to experience to really understand. From the 19th century pulpit in front of a graffiti wall to the ostrich banquets with Lucite chairs The King Is Dead is a perfect homage to the decadent splendor of the 17th century set in that of the 21st. The use of dark woods, deep red curtains, gold detailed frames, majestic seating and original stained glass windows reinforces the decadent theme of the nightclub beautifully. Not to mention the dramatic floor to ceiling animal print wall paper in the bathrooms which seems appropriate for an afterlife / nightlife experience like The King is Dead. This has been one of our most exciting nightclub projects to date, not just because of the creative freedoms that we were allowed but also the fact that we got to design an entire nightlife experience from quiet dining at Grass to the over the top splendor of The King Is Dead," said Tom Telesco AIA, president of Telesco Associates. Both energizing nightclub and social lounge, the King Is Dead is another Telesco design project that shows the vision of a nightclub design pioneer and the talent of his team of designers. # # # ABOUT TELESCO ASSOCIATES
