The Collings 360 has been awarded a Premier Gear Award for the month of July.
The Premier Gear Award is an honor bestowed upon a piece of gear—whether guitar, amp, effect, or other gear— that has been extraordinary enough to impress the staff of Premier Guitar. Despite the high quality of all gear reviewed by Premier Guitar, only exemplary items earn the award.
“Tonally speaking, the 360 fills a space that was previously unoccupied by our other solid body models,” says Alex Reub, Sales Manager for Collings Guitars (http://www.collingsguitars.com). “We’ve found the custom Lollar mini-humbuckers to be particularly receptive to the high quality woods that we’re using. They have a lower output that helps them to be a little tighter and brighter than a standard Lollar humbucker, but a little fatter and hotter than a true vintage mini. These are lightly potted and can sound sweet or snarly, depending on how they’re played. As with all our other models, we want the guitar to talk and the pickups to listen.”
“The fit and finish are perfect; playability is more of the same—perfectorama;
“At Premier Guitar we want our reviews to focus on premier instruments and equipment for discerning gearheads, professional players and tone chasers, so we're always on the lookout for the best guitars and gear we can get our hands on,” says Chris Burgess, Editor-in-Chief for Premier Guitar. “Occasionally, our reviewers come across something that positively distinguishes itself from the rest.”
About Collings:
In late 1991, a 3200 square foot "feed store" was purchased, on the outskirts of Austin, and was occupied in the spring of 1992. By 2005, the size of the shop had tripled with 50 full-time employees and ground was being broken for a new 22,000 square foot shop. The addition of CNC technology helped to add a level of consistency, accuracy and safety to parts production that was previously unavailable. As the business grew and processes were refined, there is one thing that did not change... Bill Collings’ commitment to building the finest acoustic steel string instruments possible.
