Swati Natekar will perform numbers from her fresh album Destiny Chakra (Wheel of Destiny) and collaborations from an array of distinguished Asian and Western musicians. Swati’s group is joined by the exciting Kathak Dancer, Anurekha Ghosh for a scintillating fusion of dance, rhythm & melody.
Swati Natekar’s new album, Destiny Chakra, is a musical expression of the journey of a girl born in a traditionally Classical music family in the sleepy central Indian town of Jabalpur through the commercially active Bollywood razzmatazz of Bombay, to the international music scene of London, UK.
Swati’s biography is extensive and includes the albums Dhanak (The Rainbow), Anjuman, Birha. Swati, whose Vocals have featured on impressive World Music & Dance tracks such as Jakatta’s American Dream, Nitin Sawhney’s Nadia & Niraj Chag’s Khwaab, has been creating a niche through her collaborations with leading international musicians such as Talvin Singh, Zakir Hussain, Craig Armstrong & Darren Tate. Her voice also featured on the U.K 2006/2007 Sharwoods TV Advert campaign and on the soundtrack of Hollywood movies like The In-Laws.
Swati has performed previously at the Southbank Centre along with the “Les Dangereuse” UK tour in 2006, with Jazz Singer Juliet Robert and Mali Singer Babani Kone, also produced by Asian Music Circuit, which earned all round acclaim in the UK media.

Destiny Chakra
Recorded with highly skilled musicians in Bombay such as Abhijit Pohankar, Ashwin Srinivasan and Dilshad Khan, Destiny Chakra is a world class world music album written by Swati Natekar. The album features the wonderful R’n’B diva Sanchita Faruque (from Nitin Sawhney’s Beyond Skin) and offers diverse musical favours, rooted in Indian classical music but ranging across spiritual, R’n’B and jazz. All in all, Destiny Chakra is a captivating and enchanting album. Already receiving acclaim since its initial live performance at Cargo, Shoreditch in 2007, the discography of tracks from the album include: ‘Mantra’, ‘Mystery’ & ’Sandesa’, which has been licensed to Universal Records for Incredible India and ‘Sandesa’ which is currently featuring on DJ Pathaan (BBC) Tandava II.
