Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa and his staff have organized a Day of Service event to help the people of Los Angeles and surrounding communities. In collaboration with the city, Western Beauty Institute will be offering free haircuts, manicures and hair styling for both men and women.
The charitable service will take place on Saturday, June 27th from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and will be conducted at the following three sites:
Las Palmas Park
505 S Huntington St. in San Fernando
(818) 898-7340
Alicia Broadous-Duncan Multipurpose Senior Center
11300 Glenoaks Boulevard in Pacoima
(818) 834-6100
Bernardi Multipurpose Center
6514 Sylmar Ave. in Van Nuys
(818) 781-1101.
Western Beauty students will be styling at all three locations, servicing those arriving on a first come, first serve basis and by appointment. WBI’s Placement Director, Rachel Reynoso, stated about 20 to 30 day and night students will be involved per site. She added, "The students will be helping about 200 people total!"
The city has expressed their enthusiasm regarding the students' participation. Also, many of the student’s supervisors and instructors will be present at the event. WBI proudly welcomes this opportunity to allow these talented students beautify the hearts of those in need.
