MercedesTrophy Junior Golf Masters Final attracts entries from 12 countries

Bangkok - The MercedesTrophy Junior Golf Masters Final to be held at Rayong Green Valley golf course on 17 - 19 June 2009 has attracted entries from 12 countries, in additional to over 80 young Thai golfers who have won through the qualifying rounds.

June 22, 2009 - PRLog -- Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited will be organizing the 7th MercedesTrophy Masters Final at the Rayong Green Valley Golf Course from 17 – 19 June 2009. The tournament is the final round of the MercedesTrophy Junior Golf Championships.

A total of over 80 Thai golfers who have won through six qualifying rounds will be competing for places in the Teens On The Green World Championship Final in the USA later this year.

They will also be testing their skills against a strong field of over 50 young golfers from 12 countries including:Australia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Zimbabwe, Taiwan and the USA.

The MercedesTrophy Masters Final will be played over 54 holes, and comprises of both boys and girls events divided into
3 age groups, 12 and under, 14 and under and 18 and under. Six winners, one boy and one girl from each age group will be eligible to play in the Teens On The Green World Championship final. The travel expenses for the six golfers will be paid by Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited.

Emphasis in the programme is placed not only on golfing skills, but also on educational excellence and the partnership with Teens On The Green actively seeks golf scholarships to colleges in the USA for the young golfers who take part in
the MercedesTrophy Junior Golf Championships.

Professor Dr. Alexander Paufler, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited said that “the MercedesTrophy Junior Golf Championships are part of the company’s ongoing programme to encourage the youth in Thailand to participate in sporting activities. The Championship provides an opportunity for Thai junior golfers to compete against international competition both in Thailand and abroad. They are also unique in that the golfers gain points for both golfing skills and educational excellence in the qualifying rounds, a combination, which is an important stepping stone to a successful career in the future.”
