Jun 22, 2009 – Once again, on July 18, 2009, the New York African Chorus Ensemble will be holding its fifth annual gathering of educative and soul-lifting night of performances tagged “The Gathering IV: A Night of African Traditional, Popular, and Art music”. The event will also include the usual awards ceremony to deserving patrons of the arts. This year, three worthy ambassadors of Africa’s cultural legacy will be honored. They are; Sombe Yembe, who is described as a performer extraordinaire; Queen Mother, Dr. Delois Blakely, community Mayor of Harlem and the last but not the least, will be New Heritage Theatre Group, represented by its versatile Executive Producer, Voza Rivers.
The event will take place at The Riverside Theatre, 91 Claremont Avenue @ 120th Street, New York, NY 10027.
According to the founder and director of NYACE “it is going to be a night to remember with Mai Lingani-Vocals; Yacouba-Cora Mahamadou- Djembe; Aya Kato- Piano”. In addition, please come and listen to the exhilarating South African Harlem Voices and the never fading New York African Chorus Ensemble directed by the multi-talented Joyce Adewumi.
At the reception which starts at 6:30pm, African foods and drinks will be served. The concert begins at 7:00pm prompt, on Saturday July 18th 2009.
