Miriam Jewels and Art N Soul on 101 fundraiser for Promises2kids on June 28, 2009

Crochet jewelry allows Miriam Jewels to stand alone in the handmade jewelry industry. Miriam Jewels is a unique jewelry studio that specializes in wire crochet jewelry.  In addition to her artistic inclinations, Brazilian born artist, Miriam Chor Freitas - the force behind Miriam Jewels, first pursued a meaningful career in Child Welfare services before discovering her passion for designing and creating wire crochet jewelry.  Therefore, it is no accident that Miriam Jewels’ collections found a home at Art N Soul on 101, a non-profit gallery with a passion for local artists and a commitment to social change. The gallery proudly carries a truly unique and eclectic collection of colorful paintings, outrageous sculptures, handcrafted home pieces, wearable art and an incredibly creative assortment of handmade gift items. Mediums range from traditional to recycled materials. The gallery is run exclusively by volunteers and 100% of its proceeds go to local charities.

Once again the powers of serendipity united these two businesses with Promises 2 Kids, non-profit organization dedicated to breaking the cycle of child abuse, through prevention, education, advocacy and funding (http://www.promises2kids.org). Formerly known as Child Abuse Prevention Foundation, Promises 2 kids is best known for raising funds to build and support the Polinsky Children’s Center, the County’s emergency shelter for abused and neglected kids, and  the development of San Pasqual Academy, a model residential high school for foster children located near Escondido, just north of San Diego.

In an effort to support Promises2kids’ mission, Miriam Chor Freitas designed an exclusive heart necklace that represents our love and commitment to our children and, on Sunday, June 28th, 2009, http://www.MiriamJewels.com and Art N Soul on 101 will host a fundraiser to raise funds to further support Promises2Kids. The event will take place at the gallery on 622 South Coast Highway 101, Encinitas, CA 92024, between 2 and 6pm.
