According to a recent online survey commissioned by Beyond the Garage Door (www.beyondthegaragedoor.ca)
The survey of Real Estate agents found that 74% of buyers raised a red flag to insufficient space when faced with a cluttered garage. 87% of respondents agreed with statement that "organized garages help houses stand out". Additionally, 94% of respondents agreed with the statement that "an organized garage helps buyers remember a property" when viewing multiple houses in one day. 81% of respondents would recommend the investment to organize the garage to their clients.
The biggest obstacle to organizing your garage is winning the floor clutter battle. Steve Buccioni owner of Beyond the Garage Door sees this with his clients. "There are many ways to win the battle. The homeowner has the option of using wall space, ceiling space or floor space."
Floor standing racks are generally the most budget friendly and easy to build. Depending on garage size and amount to store using floor space may be self defeating, especially if your goal is to park your car in the garage.
Wall systems are broken into slotwall and cabinets. Quality slotwall is made of thermoplastic and withstands moisture and temperature variations found in most garages. It can be washed and offers an array of hooks, baskets and shelves. You can configure your wall seasonally by simply moving hooks, as no screws are needed. Cabinets provide the cleanest look and allow homeowners to configure workcentres to their exact needs. Cabinets are the most pricey option, but choosing the right cabinet system will ensure a lifetime of use.
Ceiling storage is the fastest and least expensive way to add square footage to your garage. It stores bulky items freeing up valuable floor space.
"The right solution is usually a combination"
