Chicago’s south side rapper, Zoser, is scheduled to distribute new album, Day 3: The Science, nationwide this August.

Day 3: The Science is the third series of a seven album series of releases.  The concept for the title of the album stems from the book The Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes.  “After reading the book it made me realize that I could do what I want to do with no holds barred.

As long as I know that things will eventually come, and have faith that they will work out.  The book taught me to just take things one day at a time as far as my career goes,” said Zoser, “and so I took the creation of this album one day at a time.”

The eighteen track album features the single, “Wind Blows,” a song where Zoser raps behind the jazzy beats of horns, percussions and an R&B hook, lyrically speaking of life in the Windy City as the wind just blows and blows.  The video for the single, which was produced by 5ifth Element who has also produced tracks for Wu Tang Clan member Raekwon and Cappadona, can be viewed on Zoser’s MySpace page.

The album also showcases Zoser’s art and passion for storytelling.  The track “Both Sides” speaks about how every story or situation that is heard in the streets always have two sides; and “Time Just Ticks” is a story about a family of four that doesn’t realize that they are family until the very end of the song when time has run out.

Most of the tracks on the album tell stories of family issues and life’s experiences on Chicago’s well-known south side. However, other tracks like “Slow down Baby” (produced by Mr. Williams, producer of Lil Kim’s “Shut up B****”) and “I Don’t Love Em”, which speak of some women who are not worth fighting over, will keep listeners’ heads bobbing with the high hats and fasting moving beats.

Day 3: The Science is on sale at record stores in Chicago, Milwaukee, and Indianapolis, as well as on iTunes.  For more information on Day 3: The Science and Zoser, or to listen to other music by Zoser visit www.myspace.com/zosermusic.

Zoser will be performing live:
July 19th at The Mansion, Country Club Hills, IL.

Zoser Biography:
Like the train that never quits, here’s Zoser (a.k.a. Zo).  Blessed with a unique voice and a pen full of innovative concepts, Zo sets himself apart from the current crop of rappers.  Born in Chicago, IL and raised for most of his years 10 miles south in the suburb of Glenwood, Zoser now reps the Chicago’s South Side once again.

Zo’s musical journey began with his father, Lee Coleman, a jazz musician who performed and played with legendary musicians Buddy Guy and six time Grammy Award winning R&B band Earth, Wind & Fire.  Coleman would later trade in his dreams of being a full-time musical artist for fatherhood; however, he still kept his musical outlet by teaching music on the city's West Side in the Chicago Public Schools for over 20 years.  Coleman still surrounded his son with every type of music from Etta James to B.B. King to Stevie Wonder.

Zo recalls waking up plenty of nights from the sound of his father’s saxophone or trumpet in the basement and running downstairs to find him reminiscing with a cup of scotch. “He taught me that practice and discipline are the only tools you really need to be great.  Everyone has a talent, but only a few practice and sharpen theirs,” states Zoser.

Starting where his old man left off, Zoser began saving the money he'd make from raking leaves, shoveling snow or any other hustle he could come up with to pay for studio time at the age of 15.  Since then, he’s worked with producers NoI.D., SC, Dug Infinite, Needlz, Jamal Rasheed, Mr. Williams, 5ifth Element, Kenny Keys, the Molemen and more.

Zoser released two street albums part one and two of a seven album series, 1 Day at a Time in 2001 and Day 2: The Lost Sessions in 2006, and began working on his third album Day 3: The Science.  Tragically, the passing of his father from a massive heart attack came as a surprise to the MC as he was finishing up the album.   Unable to write music due to the temporary mental block, Zoser’s only solace was making phone calls to record stores, DJs, promoters and music venues.  Leveraging his years of business school and music industry experience, Zo created his own independent record label, 1 Day Music Group, Inc. and started distributing his CDs to record stores throughout the Midwest and online through iTunes as well as other sites.

In a way his father’s passing served as a purpose for Zoser to focus on the mighty task at hand—being an independent success in an industry dominated by massive Goliath-like corporations.  Now with a clear head and more determination than ever, Zoser is back writing and performing, knowing faith and determination is all he needs, and Zoser simply won’t stop.

“Zoser’s other contributions were delivered with the same Midas touch and I was a fan.  Whether flexing skills on gangsta themes or laying back and giving commentary on his city and his life, Zoser consistently brought rhyme schemes that reminded me of Eminem in their complexity, and Nas in their careful balance between street savvy and calm detachment.”
