Common problems in dog

June 20, 2009 - PRLog -- If we see our dog doing any thing we do not want him to do, we have to tell him. Not once, not twice but a number of times. A positive perception towards this issue is teaching the dog to do something desirable is much easier than teaching him not to do anything unwanted!

Chewing, jumping on people, digging, excessive barking, whining, are few of the many dog problems. Before going in to the details we must know some common rules that help in getting rid of many troubles.

Rule 1
Every behavior problem of the dog has a reason behind it! First and fore most, try to figure out that reason. Is the dog just following the habit bred into her from her genes? Is she full of energy and getting bored? Have you conveyed her wrong message that she gets what she wants if she does that action?

Rule 2
You are the trainer and thus the in charge! Never back off if she wants you to! It is common with most of the dog that they do not entertain anyone near them selves while they are eating. They usually growl or bark at such instances. Never respond to their aggression! Remember, you are training her!

Rule 3
Praise your dog as much as you can when she does any thing you taught her to do. Use treats generously to train her and never lose your patience and temper.

Basic Dog Problems
1.   Dog Chewing: If it is your four to six weeks old puppy who is chewing away your furniture, the prime reason behind it is he could be teething.
The solution is as simple. Introduce her lot of kong toys. Make stuff toys hidden with some treats for her. Do not give her your old shoe or socks to play as she cannot differentiate between the old one and the new!

2.   Dog Jumping: This is a natural way for the dog to show her excitement but could be a cause of embarrassment for us.
Simply ignore her and do not let her sense your excitement when you return back home. Teach her that you are happy when she is on her all four legs. Once she is calm, call her, praise her and give a nice tummy rub. To tell her about any behavior that you did not like, it is not at all necessary to shout, scold or punish her. Simply ignore and do no talk to her if she does any thing undesirable and she will get her lesson. Your yelling at her opens a way of grabbing your attention to her!

3.   Counter Surfing: The dog is a searcher. Every dog counter surfs some times. The reasons may vary from some mouth watering temptations to just an attention grabbing technique. So as to safe her from eating any thing injurious or poisonous, it is necessary to modify this habit.
There is nothing much to do as solution. Keep your kitchen clean and dog’s tummy full. Give him lot of exercise and take him to long walks.

4.   Dog Digging: Many dog owners get upset from those craters in their back yards. Dogs dig to vile away their energy when they are getting bored. Or sometimes the scorching heat makes them do it in search of some cool surface to lie down.
Do not let your dog get bored. Give him a variety of toys to play with that can keep her engaged even when you are not there. Provide her a nice shelter in the backyard. Tell her that is an unpleasant habit by saying “No” when ever you catch her digging. Praise her and treat her when she obeys you.
