SuperGeo is going to officially release the first enterprise class GIS software, SuperGIS Server, by the end of June 2009.
SuperGIS Server is a suite of comprehensive and server-based GIS software that features out-of-the-box, centrally managed, and rich standards-based functions. Besides facilitating enterprises to centrally manage GIS data, SuperGIS Server also supports enterprises to integrate numerous GIS services, analysis applications, etc. to the server and distribute the services via the Internet. Therefore, end users can access and manipulate the data or services provided by the server by diversified channels, including desktop software, mobile GIS applications, and browsers. This largely increases the value of GIS data. Furthermore, SuperGIS Server enables enterprises to host and distribute GIS applications and services to multiple servers, so the efficiency of interior GIS functions for enterprises is also improved.
SuperGIS Server provides enterprises and end users with the following functions.
Build up Strict Security Mechanism
SuperGIS Server utilizes the security mechanism of account to manage the data. Through SuperGIS Server Maintainer, administrators on the server side can manage and set end users’ service validity, permissions, service categories, and GIS services distribution. As a result, the security mechanism of the entire system architecture is enhanced.
High Efficiency of Cache Map Services
SuperGIS Server provides high efficiency of cache map services. This not only enables administrators to build up map services more easily, but also assists administrators to meet the needs by smarter operation, like to build-up and update cache, to cache the specific area on the map, scale, and group layers, or to build cache on demand. Thus, the basic establishment of map services on the client side can be effectively accomplished.
Improvement of Advanced Processing Performance
In order to improve data processing performance, plug-in extensions are offered by SuperGIS Server. Address Locator is an extension offering complete doorplate address data in Taiwan. Users on the client side can employ SuperGIS Server Desktop Client in SuperGIS Desktop to enter the address or import CSV files with address field to query all the doorplate address data in Taiwan. In addition to multiple extensions, SuperGIS Server also supports plug-in applications developed by developers themselves to improve the extension capability of SuperGIS Server.
Query Function on Client Side
SuperGIS Server provides two ways to query data on the client side, which are query attribute data by spatial data and query spatial data by attribute data. To query attribute data by spatial data, users on the client side can utilize ‘Identify tool’ to query the attribute data of features in SuperGIS Desktop. For querying spatial data by attribute data, users can use query POI tool in SuperGIS Desktop Client and enter POI cluster or SQL language to define the text field and text.
Support OGC Standards
SuperGIS Server supports OGC standards, such as WFS and WMS, to improve the efficiency of layer display.
