June 18, 2009 - PRLog -- Vietnam will adopt policies to develop friendly tourism services, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Huynh Vinh Ai told a recent seminar held in Ho Chi Minh City.

Cars with 25 seats or more used for tourism purposes will be exempted from import tax, he said.

The official added entertainment services at four- and five-star hotels will be allowed to run until 2 a.m. instead of midnight.

The country will also launch shopping centers that refund value added tax (VAT) to tourists; meanwhile rest stations will be built along tourism routes, he said.

He also noted that tourist buses will be allowed on some major streets in peak times in Hanoi.

Vietnam has targeted to receive five million foreign and 21.5 million local tourists this year despite negative impacts of the global economic slowdown, state media said.

The country will reduce prices of air tickets, hotel services and souvenirs, with the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines being the pioneer in lowering airfares.

It will also host a series of festivities, including the Year of Tourism in the Central Highlands that features celebrations of Da Lat city as well as flower, gong, coffee and wine festivals. (VietnamNet)
