Adeneo Embedded announces new Windows Embedded CE 6.0 reference BSP for i.MX25 PDK

Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Board Support Package (BSP) for Freescale i.MX25 Product Development Kit (PDK) now available

PRLog - Jun. 18, 2009 - Adeneo Embedded, a Microsoft Windows Embedded Gold Partner with facilities in Europe and in the USA, announced today the full commercial release of the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 Board Support Package (BSP) for Freescale’s i.MX25 Product Development Kit (PDK) applications processor based on the ARM9™ core.   This BSP targets the i.MX25 PDK, a standard development platform from Freescale. It supports key features of the i.MX25 PDK.

- The i.MX25 PDK's integrated modular design is engineered to enable a more efficient development process – a critical benefit for accelerating hardware and software integration. The PDK simplifies development with three separate, reusable modules that work together for streamlined software creation.

- This Windows Embedded CE 6.0’s BSP release supports a complete set of features for the i.MX25 PDK  and combined with Adeneo Embedded’s proven BSP development capabilities, ensures OEMs the ability to quickly deliver smart, connected devices to market.

Warren Lubow, VP America at Adeneo Embedded, says, “Adeneo Embedded is proud to release this BSP, as the Editor of the Reference BSP for the i.MX25 PDK as well as the Freescale i.MX27 PDK, broadening our development of reference Windows Embedded CE BSPs for the Freescale i.MX family product line. Combining our intimate knowledge of Freescale’s i.MX25 applications processor architecture and the overall i.MX family with our expertise in Windows Embedded CE development and system integration, we significantly reduce development time and secure design success to OEMs basing their development on i.MX platform.

This release is the result of the close collaboration between Adeneo Embedded and Freescale to provide strong and reliable solutions for Windows Embedded CE on Freescale i.MX architecture. Through this collaboration, Adeneo Embedded operates as a Freescale partner who can provide support and system integration services around Windows Embedded CE on i.MX25 based designs and the i.MX product family.

The software code of this BSP is available to customers on the Freescale website www.freescale.com/imx25pdk and from Adeneo website (www.adeneo-embedded.com).

"The richness of features provided by the i.MX25, combined with Adeneo Embedded system integration expertise on Windows Embedded CE for i.MX solutions are an excellent solution for the market to secure OEMs’ design success," said Yannick Chammings, Chief Executive Officer at Adeneo Embedded.  "We're pleased that Freescale selected Adeneo Embedded for the development of the Windows Embedded CE 6.0 reference BSP for i.MX25PDK, and very excited in collaborating with Freescale for support and maintenance of this BSP to secure OEMs designs using i.MX25 powerful architecture.  Beyond the availability of this new reference solution, OEMs can benefit from the expertise of our engineering teams, located both in Europe and North America, through training, consulting or turnkey developments. These services are keys of success for customers willing to secure their embedded design in the best time to market.”

“The i.MX25 PDK includes a robust product-ready Windows Embedded CE 6.0 BSP that enables engineers to quickly create compelling solutions for consumer, industrial and general embedded markets.  Adeneo Embedded’s expertise and commitment in Windows Embedded design and support was an important factor in selecting them to be our partner for the release of this product,” said Sri Subramanian, director of partner relations, Multimedia Applications Division, Freescale.

PQOAL compliance for the easiest adaptation to custom designs – Because of its compliance with Microsoft PQOAL (Production-Quality OEM Adaptation Layer) and PQD (Production Quality Device) specifications, Adeneo Embedded BSPs are the most cost-effective way to develop custom solutions on Freescale chips under Windows Embedded CE with the minimal redesign. Only the portions of the BSPs handling board features need to be reviewed and redesigned and all code linked to the core CPU can be reused without modifications.

Fully-featured to cover all customer applications – The BSPs includes the drivers for most of the peripherals integrated in i.MX25 PDK, such as USB, Display, Audio, Touch screen, Ethernet, etc…. This allows for targeting of virtually all types of custom solutions.

Strong reliability to warrant the best quality  – Adeneo BSPs are qualified using the Windows Embedded CE official test kit, and has been designed to take full advantage of the advanced features of the i.MX25 PDK such as multimedia and communications performance.
