The United States Government Accountability Office (GAO) has adopted Chronicle Graphics' OnePager Pro and OnePager Express software to create more visibility into government spending. OnePager Pro and Express import schedule data from Microsoft Office Project and Excel, respectively, to create full-color project snapshots. The simplified graphics that OnePager provides allow stakeholders to quickly ascertain whether or not a project is on track.
The GAO, which is overseeing projects funded by the recent economic stimulus package, chose OnePager because it creates simple visuals without extra data collection or the hours of manual work required to build custom charts.
Other government agencies, including those at the federal, state, and local levels, have begun to follow the GAO's lead as they, too, try to create more visibility into how taxpayer dollars are being spent.
