Nottingham's Girl Geeks Dinner
Nottingham is getting its own Girl Geek Dinners, which bring together women who work in technical -- and traditionally male -- environments. Girl Geek Dinners were founded in 2005 in London, by Sarah Blow. Now a global phenomenon, there are over 53 groups internationally including Japan, Iceland and Malaysia.
Now 'Nottingham Girl Geek Dinners' will provide support to women in the area's strong technology, science and engineering sectors and female entrepreneurs across the region.
The first Nottingham group meeting is on the 22nd June 2009, 7pm at Fat Cats. Speaker Susi O'Neill will talk about 'Social Media for Business'. Tickets cost £10 to cover the cost of food and are available from http://nottinghamgirlgeekdinners.eventbrite.com/
Elsa Bartley, organiser of Nottingham's Girl Geek Dinners has worked for nearly 10 years in the technology sector. "I've really enjoyed my professional career and I'd like to encourage more women into technology; I think we can bring a different perspective. I'm really looking forward to meeting other professional women and sharing experiences and expertise."
