Beginning May 19th, 2009, bicycling team Wesley Cycle of Hope from Valdosta GA takes on the challenge to ride across America in the hope of educating and motivating people about poverty and homelessness. The goal of this ride is to not only bring about an awareness of poverty and homelessness but to break the cycle in communities through action and love.
Nine college students will ride coast-to coast by starting in San Francisco, CA and ending up in Virginia Beach, VA. This journey will take place over a two-month period, traveling a total of 3000 miles and riding about 75 miles a day.
The Wesley Cycle of Hope team feels that education is the number one way to defeat poverty. “Encouraging people to volunteer in their own community and making them aware of the opportunities to serve are a large part of the effort,” stated Ade Oni, a 22-year-old cyclist and team member. The team is passionate about this cause and will be speaking out to communities by raising awareness and support for their mission.
Wesley Cycle of Hope has partnered with key sponsors that are helping the bicycle team reach their goals.
