As per a research books are the 2nd largest selling item on the internet followed by software. In India alone there are more than 5000 outlets to sell books.
But when it comes to online selling of books we just have a few of the website's selling books. On counting I found there are just 8-9 of them with actually good inventory.
With this idea we launched a new webstore www.vanishbooks.com for selling books online. We are originally a publishing house but we thought that we really need a good website to sell books online and promote the books of Indian publishers online worldwide.
So with all the knowledge of books we had vanishbooks.com came up in Feb 2009. In the starting we started with an inventory list of 80,000 books but now it has come to over 300,000. By next year we are also planning to have tieups with our US based wholeseller to list their books on our website and plan to sell them in India at the lowest price possible.
Even now we are giving minimum discount of 10% and some books have almost 60% discount on them.
Buying books at vanishbooks.com is also very easy the UI has been developed in such a way that one does not hav eto go through any long procedure. We also have reqular newsletter sent to our customers to keep them updated on various offers and new releases. We also provide free shipping of books all over India and have no minimum value of sale for it.
For payment we have tied up with CCAvenue and Paypal for secure online payment. We also accept Demand Drafts and Cheques as payment, this option is especially for people who are not comfortable using Debit / Credit card online.
So on a whole we have tried to impart every thing so that shopping for books online becomes easy.
