NACo Increases Grant Management Capabilities with Serenic Navigator and Microsoft Dynamics NAV

PR Log (Press Release) – Jun 17, 2009 – The National Association of Counties (NACo) selected Microsoft Gold Certified partner AVF Consulting, Inc. to implement Serenic Navigator for Microsoft Dynamics NAV, a comprehensive financial management software solution for nonprofit organizations.  NACo’s search for a new system was a result of problems and expenses associated with maintaining SAP, their previous solution.

“We needed a financial management system that was made to meet the specific fund accounting and grant management needs of a nonprofit organization,” says David Keen, CFO of NACo. “We began using SAP in 2001 and found that it was expensive to maintain and lacked the functionality that we needed.“

Strong grant management capabilities were of particular interest to NACo.  Serenic Navigator’s grant management module, known as AwardVision, is fully integrated with the General Ledger, allowing organizations to pull the latest expense numbers, enforce rules defined by the funder for indirect cost calculations, and ensure compliance with each funder’s individual restrictions for their particular grant, all within a single application.

“AwardVision offered stronger grant management capabilities than other systems we reviewed,” says Keen. “AwardVision will make our grant management processes more efficient and systematic.”

NACo was also interested in finding a software provider with experience working with similar nonprofit organizations to their own. “The experience working with AVF Consulting has been great,” says Keen. “Their team is extremely knowledgeable about Serenic Navigator and their experience working with similar nonprofits gave us confidence that they are a great fit for our organization.”
