Ziphany, a leading provider of smart grid and demand response software applications joined other industry leaders in the utility, technology, software and standards spaces at Connectivity Week – an event which includes insightful tracks such as the DR-Expo, Gridwise Expo, BuilConn, M2M Expo, Zigbee Expo, the Pervasive Security Roundtable, and others. Nearly a thousand professionals participated throughout the week, exchanging ideas, introducing new technologies, debating standards and regulatory matters, and networking.
After speaking during a breakout session, Ziphany’s President and CEO, Brian Palka shared his insight about the fit of automated buildings within the context of a coming smarter grid: “Buildings have been getting smarter for decades. But now, with the emergence and proven success of demand response programs throughout North America, buildings with lower and lower baselines are discovering the value of paying attention to their consumption. Demand response participation enables them to generate revenues that drive investment in facility efficiencies.”
Ziphany’s vision of the Smart Grid starts with Demand Response, as a gateway for newer technologies and as a cost-justification in the many required investments in metering, devices, retrofits, and other innovative technologies. Many of Ziphany’s customers are known as Curtailment Service Providers, or Aggregators, which provide Demand Response services to a variety of end-users. These companies, as well as Electric Utilities, use ZDRP (Ziphany’s Demand Response Platform) to run or facilitate their daily operations surrounding their demand response businesses.
