The United States Tennis Association And Kaplan Virtual Education Forge Exclusive Partnership

Agreement Provides Young USTA Members with Access to Two Elite Online Schools

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun 16, 2009 -
Hollywood, Fla — Kaplan Virtual Education (KVE), a leader in online middle and high school, today announced an exclusive partnership with the Player Development program of The United States Tennis Association (USTA), the national not-for-profit dedicated to fostering the growth of tennis. Through the partnership, USTA’s 70,000 junior members in grades 6 through 12 will have access to a robust, flexible online curriculum they can customize to meet their needs.

“The USTA is recognized worldwide as the champion of the sport of tennis. Our partnership will enable us to provide their young members with an online education that will help them be as competitive in the academic arena as they are on the court,” said Graham Frey, Chancellor of Kaplan Virtual Education Private Schools.

Elite juniors in the USTA system opting to enroll in a KVE program can select either Kaplan College Preparatory School’s (KCPS) middle or high school, or Kaplan High School (KHS), depending on their learning objectives. Kaplan Virtual Education representatives will attend USTA tennis training camps in Maryland and Georgia to provide students with information and support regarding KVE’s programs.

“We recognized many of our young student athletes need an alternative to a traditional brick and mortar school in order to manage their busy training schedules. We selected Kaplan Virtual Education as the official online educational provider of USTA Player Development because Kaplan offers rich, high caliber programs,” said Tom Jacobs, Managing Director of Administration and Business Affairs for USTA Player Development.

Kaplan College Preparatory School and Kaplan High School are both private schools that serve online students across the globe. Kaplan College Preparatory School offers middle and high school students a rigorous college preparatory curriculum with more than 100 highly-interactive courses, including core, Advanced Placement, honors, test preparation and elective classes. Students receive one-on-one instruction from certified teachers as well as technical support. Additionally, KCPS provides experienced college counselors who help students achieve their college goals through an intensive, multi-year guidance process. Nearly 80 percent of KCPS graduates enroll in a four-year university program, including top tier schools such as Columbia University, Duke University and Stanford University, while 20 percent pursue athletic or talent careers. Kaplan High School provides a more self-directed approach, but with a similarly rich curriculum for students who want the benefit of a private school education with the convenience of an online platform.

Kaplan Virtual Education schools are accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and The Commission on International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA). KVE is part of Kaplan Higher Education, which is owned by Kaplan, Inc., a global educational services provider founded in 1938.
