PRLog (Press Release) –
Jun 15, 2009 – The sun is one of our most important natural resources, and many would argue that it is highly underappreciated. National Daylight Appreciation Day is a day to celebrate the sun and the innovative use of daylight. It is also a day of education and awareness leading toward a more energy-efficient planet.
Besides basking in the sun outdoors, we can also be grateful for the wonderful benefits of daylighting. Daylighting is the most cost-effective and beneficial way to light up any interior space without having to use electrical lighting.
Daylighting systems (e.g. windows, skylights, Tubular Daylight Devices) are not only eco-friendly, but they provide exceptional lighting and have even been proven to boost morale among many other benefits. It has been proven in several prominent studies that increasing daily exposure to natural light can enhance mental and physical well-being, boost concentration and energy levels and offers a variety of other unexpected perks.
Using daylight also helps you save on energy bills and reduce your carbon footprint. The U.S. Department of Energy’s Federal Energy Management Program reports that daylighting can significantly cut energy use for lighting building interiors, sometimes by up to 75 or 80 percent.
This year, National Daylight Appreciation Day falls on summer solstice and Father’s Day. Everyone across the nation, including father’s and “suns,” is encouraged to participate in this celebration and take advantage of the extra hours of daylight on this day.
