The leading Operations Management education provider in San Francisco increases size of Board of Directors from eight to thirteen and installs four officers to its student chapter based at Golden Gate University. The changes to the board are necessary to execute on the chapter’s strategy which targets the high-growth companies in the Life Sciences, Energy and Green, and Emerging Technologies industries. The re-defined board was installed ready to execute on new strategy.
“In a strategy meeting attended by members and directors of both the Golden Gate Chapter and the GGU Student Chapter, we found severe deficiencies in our market approach,” says President Tim Salaver. “It was determined that within our sphere of influence, we needed to truly focus on those companies moving from the introduction to the growth phase, needing APICS body of knowledge to remain effective, efficient, and viable companies in this difficult market.” Joan Wallner, APICS Pacific Western Field Representative, and chapter Past President, Betty Griswold installed the chapter officers, and Professor Richard Dawe, Ph.D. installed the student chapter officers. The terms for all the officers start on July 1, 2009, and end on June 30, 2010.

The officers for the Golden Gate University Student Chapter are Kelly Keen as President and Chief Executive Officer, Sheryl Meredith as Vice-President, Oronde Gordon as Director of Administration and Secretary, and Ben Novak as Director of Finance and Treasurer.
With a focus on the Life Sciences, Energy, Green, and Emerging Technologies industries, these officers are well-poised to increase operations management education relevance in the SF Bay Area. With programs on Internships and Mentoring, the chapters will be very motivated to encourage company and student participation in their programs. The chapter activities have grown in a challenging market and it is remarkable and extraordinary because while other organization have seen their memberships decline and their programs whittle to nothing, this chapter remains fresh, viable, and relevant.
