Illuminated Amps for dB Drag
Some of the loudest cars on the planet will be competing at Maxxsonics’ Car Audio Showdown, a two-day 3x dB Drag event at 1290 Ensell Road, Lake Zurich IL on July 25th and 26th 2009.
According to Maxxsonics’ Vice President of Product Development and Showdown Coordinator, John Studley, “We wanted to host a show in association with dB Drag that offered competitors low entry fees in two days of separate events with vast appeal to anyone interested in car audio.”
Trophies and valuable dB Drag points will be awarded in all classes with added opportunities to win cash prizes. “The weekend will bring different competitors to the events so spectators can get a complete dB Drag experience by attending the 1x event on Saturday and then coming back for the 2x on Sunday,” further noted Studley.
First timers will want to reach for the sunscreen before any type of ear protection. “Contrary to the perception, dB Drags events are not loud unless you’re sitting inside the car, which in itself is not permitted. The vehicles are tightly sealed to maximize containment of the sound energy for the decibel level meter.”
Event officiates and judges, Greg and Casey Zoller of Extreme Sound Productions (ESP) will be offering the ESP Challenge, which in addition to points, competitors signing up for multiple events will have increased odds to win great cash prizes.
The event will include local food vendors, raffle prizes and giveaways. Among the activities will be a factory-direct warehouse sale featuring car and home audio products from Maxxsonics brands, MB Quart, Hifonics, Autotek and Crunch. “Expect to find some great buys on amplifiers, speakers, subwoofers, accessories, home audio in-wall and in-ceiling speakers at prices that are generally not available to the public,” concluded Studley.
Co-sponsors of the event include Second Skin and Kinetik. Registration time begins each day at 11:00 am with a Saturday night party planned at a local club. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Breast Cancer charity. For more, go to http://www.maxxsonics.com/
