Celebrating their 30th year (1979-2009) in the skate business, Modern Skate & Surf, Michigan’s premier skate shop, is sponsoring this day for all skateboarders.
“We really want to encourage kids to get off the couch and away from their computers and video games and do something physical. Skateboarding is a great way to get some exercise and improve your self confidence while meeting new friends” says George Leichtweis, owner of Modern Skate & Surf.
Modern’s team sponsored riders will be there to assist in general instruction and show off their talents as extreme athletes.
Go Skateboarding Day is an unofficial holiday that occurs annually on June 21, the most common day for the Northern Solstice. The name for the holiday possibly originated from the "No Skateboarding"
