Student World Assembly will cosponsor a panel discussion entitled "Afghanistan & Pakistan Why are We There?" With New York’s Society for Ethical Culture and The Nation Institute on June 17th at 7 PM. There is no fee to attend the panel. The event will be held at New York’s Society for Ethical Culture on 2 West 64th Street between Broadway and Central Park West.
The panel will include three guests with expertise on Afghanistan and Pakistan. Among the speakers are; James. F. Hogue, editor of Foreign Affairs Magazine, Gretchen Peters, Author of Seeds of Terror: How Heroine is Bankrolling the Taliban and Al Qaeda, and Fawaz A. Gerges, author of The Far Enemy: Why Jihad Went Global. The discussion will be moderated by Vered Mallon.
The panelists will touch on the controversial and topical issue of America’s military and diplomatic goals in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The speakers will bring personal insight of events and circumstances in Afghanistan and Pakistan to answer many lingering questions about Al Qaeda’s presence there and America’s purpose in the region.
