Committed to enhancing and enriching Jewish life in the Las Vegas community, JEWS brought together some of the finest performers in the Valley, to offer an uplifting and inspiring musical celebration of traditional and contemporary Jewish music. The ensemble blended harmonies and offered a performance that brought the audience to their feet throughout the concert.
Performers included Lola Rivera, Elizabeth Bricker, Irv Weinberger (vocal and guitar), DJ Sinai, Carly Matt & Alexander Baskin accompanied by internationally renowned pianist Susan Lind Vex, Eddie Birch, Tracie Birch, Kayti Ellis, and Lee Solomon.
Jewish Enrichment
The staff of Jewish Enrichment World Services would like to thank the entire community and leadership for attending the June 6th concert, as well as The Family Music Center for providing the venue for the Havdalah Service and Concert of Hope. Jewish Guitar Basics (September - February) A six month course meeting one time per week for one hour. 8-10 students per class. Students will master basic guitar chording patterns and rhythm to effectively play and sing a variety of Jewish, folk, Israeli, holiday, and contemporary selections
Basic Song Leading (February - July ) A six month course meeting one time per week for one hour. 8-10 students per class. Introduction to beginning song leading utilizing the Jewish Guitar Basic Skill class as a prerequisite. Students will be introduced to basic song leading skills addressing presence, commanding a group in song, and performance
Advanced Song Leading This course will be offered to students that have completed the Jewish Guitar Basic and Beginning Song Leading classes. This prerequisite may be waived based on the demonstrated skill level of the student
Jewish Youth Choir Community-based Jewish Youth Choir for third through twelfth grade. Choir will meet one time per week for one hour. This group will learn Jewish, Israeli, folk, holiday, and contemporary choir pieces to be performed throughout the year. This group will record one to two professional recordings in the course of one year and members are expected to make a one year commitment to the choir. Choir members will also prepare for live performances
Jewish Youth Theater This group will prepare and perform two plays throughout the year. Participants will be chosen through an audition process. Rehearsal schedule will be announced
Beginning Stained Glass In this class, you will learn how to cut, grind, and foil glass and then solder the pieces together to create a beautiful panel. Students from 15-18 years old are invited to register for this class with a signed parental permission form. There will be an additional $36 materials fee for this course
Jewish Production and Media Students enrolling in the Jewish Production and Media class will be introduced to a number of technical and non-technical skills, including script writing, directing, and hands-on camera and studio skills such as lighting, sound and video editing. Class projects will include both news-oriented material and creative video projects, such as interviews and short news broadcasts, commercials and public service announcements.
Family Tracks Series Celebrate family, couple, and adult series.
Come experience the taste, sounds, and practice of Jewish Holidays and observances.
Teen Tracks Series A comprehensive series addressing Jewish teen ethics, today’s hot topics, and concerns such as addiction, depression, and living Jewishly in today’s world. Find out what our Torah and Jewish law say about these issues and more. This is an interactive guest speaker and conversation-
Conversational Hebrew
Students in this class will be able to speak and understand the Hebrew language. Have you dreamed of going to Israel? Have you always wanted to know what is being said when someone is speaking Hebrew? Are you looking for a fun and exciting language to learn? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this class is for you! We will start off with the basics and move on from there. One hour per week. Prerequisite:
Yiddish Appreciation
Class exploring the Yiddish language, history, music and culture
Jewish Cooking
Come have some fun with Jewish cooking. Learn some great holiday, Shabbat, and daily use recipes to share with your friends and family
Future Courses
Learn how to make a small mosaic Jewish star to hang on the wall
Learn about your Jewish roots by scrap booking your family tree
Examine the history of Jewish media, including films based on Jewish themes, Jewish actors, broadcasters, directors, and producers
