PRLog (Press Release) - Jun 11, 2009 -
A recent article from the bornfree.com website states, “The pet food market has been dominated in the last few years by the acquisition of big companies by even bigger companies. With $15 billion a year at stake in the U.S. and rapidly expanding foreign markets, it’s no wonder that some are greedy for a larger piece of the pie.” Sorting through
the products in the market place can be confusing and therefore difficult for consumers to
properly choose what’s best for their dog.

A recent Veterinarian blog had an entry, “A poor diet can have severe consequences to your
pet just as it would for you. If you feed your dog the equivalent of a steady diet of fast food it
will suffer the same way you would.” How can people be sure what’s in the dog food their
buying?

The 2007 recall list has made many dog owners concerned over what ingredients they are
getting in their dog food. In addition, discussions with their Vets have reminded them that
dog food is not a “one size fits all” situation. Breed and age considerations are an important element in planning good nutrition for your dog.  Information has dramatically increases on this subject to give dog owners a better chance of avoiding problems and keeping their dogs healthy. But sorting through all the information and properly picking the right food for your dog can still be difficult.

According to petplace.com websitet: “The key is to know the protein and fat levels, moisture
content, fillers, added vitamins and types of ingredients your particular dog requires. Your
dog's age, medical condition and other factors (whether she is pregnant, for instance) also
need to be taken into account. Work with your veterinarian to decide what pet food is best for your dog.”  This is sound advice and gives the pet owner an appreciation for the considerations that need to go into feeding their dog properly.

Keeping the family pet happy and healthy has become as big a concern as keeping the
human member the family fit. Further information on this subject is available from Sharda
Baker at    http://dognutritional123.weebly.com/.
