As part of its long-term plan to provide more services to the residents of Hendry and Glades Counties, Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Inc. is preparing to move to a new, larger location in Clewiston. In order to prepare for the move, the existing Clewiston store (located at 112 E. Sugarland Hwy.) will close on June 30.
In order to liquidate the store’s existing stock, most items at the Clewiston Goodwill store will be sold for $1.00 from now until June 30. Furniture, mattresses, and new goods are the only exceptions to the dollar sale.
Goodwill plans to open its new location on July 31. The new 16,000 square foot retail space in the Clewiston Town Center is more than four times the size of the current Goodwill store, and boasts other features which will be beneficial for the agency, according to Bryan Avery, Goodwill District Manager. “The new store location gives us much-needed parking and will provide a larger selection for families looking for affordable goods,” Avery explains. “It also provides space for our Job-Link service, which will help provide job training and placement assistance to Goodwill’s clients.”
The larger retail store in Clewiston will also provide approximately 20 new jobs. Available positions will include shift supervisors, cashiers, merchandise processors, donation attendants, salvage coordinators, and forklift drivers. Both full and part-time positions will be available at the new store. Goodwill will host job fairs on June 12 and June 19 at the Clewiston Inn in order to fill these positions.
