FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release) - Jun 11, 2009 -
New York, NY -- Top of the Rock™ – Rockefeller Center’s historic observation deck – today announced the debut of two new translations of its popular podcast audio guide. The podcast, featuring the latest technology, will allow Spanish and German-speaking visitors to discover Top of the Rock’s long-rooted history in New York City, while enjoying the unparalleled, 360-degree views.

The new podcast audio guide will now enlighten Spanish and German-speaking tourists with a unique story-telling experience. Visitors will be guided through Rockefeller Center, inspired by the vision of John D. Rockefeller Jr., from the historic opening of the Observation Deck in 1933 to the reopening in November of 2005, with its state-of-the-art features, including reserved-time tickets, multi-media exhibits, indoor and outdoor viewing areas, and transparent safety glass panels to allow completely unobstructed, open-air views.  The audio tour will also explore the panoramic views from the deck (the “Grand Viewing Deck” on the 69th floor offers full views of Manhattan to the east, west, north and south, with visibility approximately 80 miles on clear days) and allow visitors to discover the history of some of New York’s most prominent landmarks, including the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, the Brooklyn Bridge, Central Park and more.  The 70th floor, which crowns the building, is only 20 feet wide and nearly 200 feet long, and provides a vantage point unlike any other found in New York.

The podcast audio guide highlights features found exclusively at Top of the Rock, including two crystal installations by Swarovski, the sky shuttle elevators and the “Weather Room,” a triple-height premier special event space on the 67th floor.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide the podcast tour to our Spanish and German-speaking visitors,” said Keith Douglas, Senior Director of Sales and Marketing for Top of the Rock and Rockefeller Center.  “These markets are some of our most important travel markets, and it made great sense to make this terrific technology available to them. Visitors can download the free podcast to their devices straight from our website as they purchase tickets. As one of New York City’s most popular destinations for foreign tourists, we are constantly looking for ways to enhance their experience and we believe that the new podcast, with its ease-of-use, along with the compelling historical narrative it provides, will do exactly that for our visitors.”

Top of the Rock is open daily 8:00 AM to midnight, with the sky shuttle making a final run at 11:00 PM. Ticket prices are $20.00 for adults, $18.00 for seniors and $13.00 for children six to 12 years old. Those interested in visiting Top of the Rock can reserve their tickets via the website www.topoftherocknyc.com or call 877-NYC-ROCK (877-692-7625) or 212-698-2000.  In addition, there are several terminals on-site to help visitors purchase tickets easily.
