Optec Introduces Armored Fiber Optic Patchcords And Cable Assemblies

HONG KONG,  – Optec Technology Limited (http://www.optec.com.hk), a leader in fiber optic interconnect and assembly products, today announced it is launching the innovative armored fiber optic cable assemblies series, suitable for deployments in many applications that requires stronger protection of the fiber optic cable, such as fiber-to-the-desk (FTTD), broadcasting, FTTx, and other harsh environment networks.

“This armored patchcord is especially suitable for harsh environment and FTTD [Fiber-to-the-Desk] applications,” states Sharon Kan, marketing manager of Optec Technology Limited. “It saves space while improves security and stability of fiber connectivity.”

The armored fiber optic patchcords and cable assemblies offer customers the value of added protection via a stainless steel metal tubing inside the cable coating that protects the fiber inside the cable. This leads to additional benefits including easier handling and installation of the fiber optic cable which in turn leads to faster installation thus saving time and money.

In addition, the protective metal tubing prevents damages from rodents biting the cable. The higher durability of the fiber optic cable leads to lower maintenance costs, a longer mean time between maintenance (MTBM) and therefore a longer service life.

In comparison with traditional fiber optic patchcords, optical performance will not degrade as a result of this additional protective metal tube. Optical performance, such as insertion loss and return loss is the same as traditional fiber optic cable assemblies. Customers can select their choice of fiber optic connectors (LC, FC, SC, ST, MTRJ & E2000) along with the type of polish (APC, UPC & PC) required.
