FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PR Log (Press Release)Jun 11, 2009 – Two new air displays have been confirmed at the Wales National Airshow in Swansea Bay on July 11 and 12.

The City and County of Swansea, hosts of the Wales National Airshow confirmed that the RAF King Air and Team Osprey are the new additions to the packed programme.

The Beech Be 200 King Air is the newest training aircraft in the RAF.  The aircraft has performed exceptionally well during its first year of service and is used  for advanced flying training.  The advanced cockpit and systems make it an ideal training platform for the new generation of multi-engined aircraft entering RAF service.

Team Osprey is the only formation display team in Wales and hail from Swansea.  The four man team are based at Swansea Airport and fly Russian Yak 52 planes, each with a 400 horse power 9 cylinder radial engine and when the formation swoops past the crowd, the sound is reminiscent of the days when Swansea Airport was home to squadrons of Spitfires.

Frances Jenkins, Strategic Manager for Tourism, Marketing and Events at Swansea Council said, “The Airshow is the highlight of the summer events calendar in Swansea and we are delighted to confirm even more displays as part of the programme.  Don’t forget that the Airshow is free and there are also plenty of other activities taking place along the Prom as part of the event..We’re looking forward to welcoming the crowds to Swansea Bay!”

The Wales National Airshow is on July 11 and 12 and open 10am until 7pm. It is based around the Civic Centre on Swansea Bay Promenade.  This free two day spectacular will include dazzling air displays from the RAF and Royal Navy and fun activities along the Prom including the Army, Royal Navy, trade stands, a funfair and lots more.
