BEND, Ore. – i.c. organics announced today that it is now selling its organic skincare product line for babies at some of the top retail stores in Bend: Whole Foods Market, Newport Avenue Market, Lu Lu Boutique and Hot Box Betty. The organic skincare line is made locally from pure plant and vegetable sources and gives back a percentage of proceeds to Justice for Children, a national organization that supports victims of child abuse.
In a laboratory of a converted historical home in the heart of downtown Bend, dedicated artisans spend days mixing and handcrafting small batches of concoctions using jojoba, shea butter, honey, and vanilla – ingredients coddled from seed to harvest.
This is i.c. organics, maker of organic bath and body creams, balms and oils specially designed for a baby's sensitive skin. i.c. organics is a fresh company based here in Bend that is poised to meet mounting consumer demand for more integrity, more compassion, and better quality than the giants in the mainstream are capable of, or even care enough, to provide.
“Creating this company has been as healing for me as I hope it will be for child abuse victims and for babies’ skin!” says Cheryl Hutchinson, i.c. organics founder, with a smile. “I had gone through a very tough period in my personal life, having lost my mother after a sudden illness. My work life was suffering and I felt I was in need of new direction. I took a long walk in search of clarity and the idea of forming this company came to me quite suddenly. It has been a lot of work, but a hugely positive new aspect of my life, and one that I hope will also positively impact children and families alike.”
The company represents a win-win-win in that it has been helpful for
Cheryl to move in a new direction career-wise, it provides an organic and natural solution for babies’ sensitive skin and it helps victims of child abuse through a percentage of sales donated to Justice for Children.
The product line consists of organic ingredients from family farms in Oregon and Mexico. The Shea butter comes from a women’s collective farm in Africa using ancient methods that have made it famous for quality. Other ingredients include jojoba oil, essential oils, Oregon honey and vanilla. All are non-allergenic and have been tested for generations.
For mom, Belly Butter is the perfect treatment for her changing skin. Jojoba oil, aloe vera, natural vitamin E oil and other organic botanicals help promote elasticity while preventing stretch marks. 8.5 oz jar, $42.00.
For baby, Baby Wash, Baby Lotion, Baby Oil and Bottom Balm. 4 to 8 oz sizes, suggested retail prices range from $19.95 to $24.95.
Ten percent of the proceeds from i.c. organics go to Justice for Children, a non-profit that rescues children who are victims of abuse.
The "i.c." stands for "influence change," which represents the passion for charity and the commitment to using only sustainable, organic ingredients even though costs are high, even as mainstream baby bath and body product companies are being exposed for using ingredients that have been shown to cause cancer. In addition to skincare products, parents are increasingly turning to natural diaper solutions. Cloth diaper sales are rising rapidly in part because of growing evidence that shows they are better for your baby’s skin, but also because they are gentler on the earth.
“Sometimes I’ll be feeling frustrated at the end of a long work day,” she says. “And I just sit back and think, ‘I’m influencing change.’ It gives me new energy to work even harder.”
