June 10, 2009 - PRLog -- Mies, Switzerland – It is estimated that 80 percent of humans will suffer from acne at some point in their lives.  And if all of us are lucky, the bothersome signs of aging will make appearances.

Developments on old technology have recently brought a treatment known as phototherapy, or photodynamic therapy, to the forefront of cosmetic enhancement.  Without pain, troublesome side effects, or recovery time, phototherapy has proven to diminish acne, wrinkles, freckles, age spots, Rosacea, spider veins, and large pores.

Phototherapy’s worry-free appeal is spawned from its ability to target bacteria, inflammation and melanin in the dermis (underlying skin), without affecting the epidermis (top layer of skin) or surrounding, unproblematic tissue.

Dr. Nortey Omaboe of Cabinet Vétérinaire International notes that animal hospitals have the power to use phototherapy for causes even more valiant than those of vanity.  At his veterinary clinic, Dr. Omaboe uses photodynamic therapy to destroy dogs’ cancerous and precancerous tumors, without damaging surrounding tissue.  The recovery of canines undergoing this procedure is relatively simple, and any side effect minimal.

For 25 years, photodynamic therapy has been used to eradicate dogs’ skin cancer.  Since then, improved sensitizing agents and better light technology have allowed for the successful treatment of liver, oral, mammary, lung, skin cancers, and more.

“Phototherapy is a beam of light into the darkness of a cancer sentence,” says Dr. Omaboe.  He also reassures that, “Even though one in three dogs will develop some type of cancer, today’s high-tech developments in veterinary care offer the chances that our dogs deserve.”

Cabinet Vétérinaire International offers a number of other high-tech treatments for the preservation of pet dogs.  Ultrasound, electrocardiogram, x-ray, fluoroscopic x-ray, CAT scan, MRI, BICOM, BFS, endoscopic surgical equipment, surgical microscope, and anesthetic administering and monitoring equipment are among the collection of human-grade equipment available.

Dr. Omaboe points out, “When you make human-grade diagnostic and treatment equipment available to dogs, then you also make the highest quality of life available to them.”

While remarkable advancements are being realized in dermatology, those same principles are allowing Dr. Omaboe to ensure that the latest medical advancements are available – to treat ailments and save lives, of the greatest.
