Kip Hollister, Founder and CEO of Boston-based staffing firm, Hollister, delivered the keynote address at the North Cambridge Catholic High School 2009 Commencement on Friday, June 5.
Hollister serves on the board of North Cambridge Catholic High School, and her company participates in the school’s Corporate Work Study Program, which introduces students to a work environment, offers them real world work experience, fosters self-confidence, and inspires ambitions. Hollister, Inc. employs students who perform entry-level jobs, and their earnings finance the majority of their education. Abdul Cisse, a member of North Cambridge Catholic’s class of 2009, worked for Hollister throughout his senior year and introduced Hollister at the graduation ceremonies.
In her commencement address, Hollister explained to students that they will encounter challenges throughout their lives and must remain true to their core values to effectively navigate them. She said, “You will encounter roadblocks, forks in the road, and some dead ends. Steer through challenges and use your morals as your internal compass. Despite how far life takes you from your desired path; despite naysayers and personal monsters, stay true to yourself, and you will never be lost. Stay true and the rewards will follow.”
Hollister is just one of the several Boston companies that employ North Cambridge students through the school’s Corporate Work Study Program. Every member of North Cambridge Catholic High School’s graduating class participated in a work-study program.
